SortHort was a geriatric African lion living somewhere in a game reserve in Zimbabwe. Having gotten extremely old, he had been banished by another younger lion from his pride, and his crippling arthritis had placed the predator through a lot of suffering. He wass also missing the majority of his teeth, and since he couldn't hunt well, the poor thing literally starved to death.
